Today’s Sunday Share is Abbey Withey, known professionally as Jane Goat. She’s my new studio neighbor, and I couldn’t be more excited to introduce her and her art studio.
Some people create art, and some create spaces where creativity can thrive—Abbey does both. She’s a mega-talented mural artist whose work can be seen across Phoenix, including her installation “Beyond What We Were” at the former Park Central Mall. Worth a drive to check it out-really amazing.
Beyond large-scale murals, Abbey is also a dedicated high school art teacher at Brophy College Prep. Teaching young artists opened her eyes to something missing—an accessible, welcoming space where kids could explore their creativity beyond the classroom. That realization led to Inklings, her new art studio, dedicated to providing young creatives a place to experiment, create, and grow in the visual arts. Her goal is to nurture confidence, artistic skill, and connection in an environment where everyone feels safe and inspired.
Abbey is a 4th-generation Arizonan, a multi-disciplinary artist, and—relatable to so many of us—a self-declared archnemesis of laundry. 😊 She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration from The University of Arizona before living in New York City and later returning to Phoenix in 2017.
If you’re looking for a place where creativity is encouraged and celebrated, check out @inklingsphx and @janegoat , or visit www.inklingsphx.com and www.janegoat.com. Her summer courses just launched, with options for artists as young as 6th grade all the way up to adult offerings. I know they will sell out so check them out today.
Welcome to our hood, Abbey! I can’t wait to see all the amazing things you and your students create.
